You can find more details about the process involved in having a granite or quartz worktop installed in your kitchen below; if you have any question unanswered, do not hesitate to get in touch.
Our Process
-

Templating
First, our friendly team will create the template for your bespoke kitchen worktops. It's crucial that your templating is carried out accurately, to ensure the finished product looks its absolute best.
This is why it's important that all the kitchen units, end panels and any other furniture that will affect the way the worktop is fitted should be fixed and in their final position prior to us templating, so that we can get your measurements completely accurate.
All appliances should be onsite before templating (including hobs, sinks, taps and waste etc) - anything that will affect the worktops, so that we can ensure your new worktop fits like a glove.
-

Installation
Once your new worktops have been made to your specification, we will arrange a convenient time to install them.
The installation usually takes about half a day, which means you will normally be given the choice of a morning or afternoon appointment.
On the day of fitting, we will require a clear room to fit the worktops. For a flawless finish, we prefer that the room is left dust-free for a few hours after we leave, as some of the sealants we use will still be wet for up to six hours after installation is complete.
Once your installation is complete, your plumber and electrician can be contacted to fit taps, hobs and other applicances.
-

Aftercare
Once your new worktops are in place, it's time to enjoy them!
On the whole, granite and quartz worktops are durable and hardwearing.
They are not, however, indestructible; they can scratch, chip and stain - so it’s important to care for your worktops correctly to ensure you can enjoy them for many years to come.
The best thing to clean your worktop with is warm soapy water, avoiding any harsh or abrasive cleaning products.Download our care guide to find out more about keeping your new worktops looking like new, or ask our team if you have any questions at all.
How is granite made?
Most granites are made of magmatic rock, which is produced when magma deep beneath the earth’s crust cools down.
Once the stone has been sourced, the granite requires polishing to bring out the depth of colours and smooth off the outlining surface.
This is what gives granite that outstanding finish and individual look which cannot be matched, and can really add that special touch to your kitchen.
How is quartz made?
A quartz worktop (often called engineered stone) is a premium, man-made surface material widely used for kitchen and bathroom counters.
Unlike 100% natural stone slabs like granite or marble, quartz worktops are manufactured by combining natural minerals with modern technology. Polymer resins bind the quartz crystals together, while pigments are added to create a vast array of colours and patterns (including realistic mimics of marble and granite).
This gives a worktop that’s durable, stain-resistant and hygienic. Because it's manufactured, the pattern you see in a showroom is exactly what you’ll get.
